Buying Luxe and Saving Lots

sponsoredpostgraphicLet the holiday shopping begin! I don’t know about you, but I spend most of my time shopping online. The thought of bringing two kids with me on my shopping expeditions makes me too tired just thinking about it. I wait until they are in bed, I pour a glass of wine, and I hit the keyboard. Yet, there is another reason why I like shopping online, and that is the savings I can earn towards my kids’ college fund in the process. Through sites like Upromise, you can shop luxe and save lots too.

Upromise Review

For example, I’ve been wanting a new pair of Frye Boots and came across this pair on Nordstrom.com. They are typically $377.95, but they are currently on sale for $253.22. A savings of 33% or $124.73.

I am also a Nordstrom card holder, so I got email notices about special holiday shopping events where I can get 10x the points on my shopping card purchases. So instead of a typical 253 points on my card, I get 2530 points and thus get $20 in a Nordstrom Note. So now I have $144.73 in my pocket.

I also signed up for Upromise.com. So when I went to Nordstrom.com, I went to it through the Upromise.com portal. As a result of shopping via that electronic route, I get 5% cash back on my purchase. In this case, I earned $12.75 that I can put towards my kids’ education.

So when I bought my lovely new luxurious Frye Boots, I saved $157.48. Of which $12.75 went directly into my kids college fund. Often, I make note of the entire savings and put all of it in my kids’ savings account too.

Upromise Retailers

Many savings websites seem to cater to the low cost retailers. Which is great! Yet, often I want to shop at the high end boutiques or on the luxury designers’ websites and often cannot find any incentive to do so. Yet, the Upromise retailers include luxury brands and stores like Neiman Marcus, Bergdorf Goodman, Barneys, Tory Burch, Kate Spade, David Yurman, Saks Fifth Avenue, Bloomingdales, Williams and Sonoma, The Land of Nod, and even the Ritz Carlton.

So head to Saks.com, pick up this Gold Metallic Leather Convertible Clutch from Michael Kors. With the savings from the designer sale, and the 5% cash back you’ll get via the Upromise.com website, not only will you be sporting a gold bag, but you’ll be putting some gold in the bank too.
