Many thanks to Sarah H. who shared this delicious recipe, just in time for St. Patrick’s Day. Warning though: warm out of the oven, it can be hard to stop eating.

Aunt Nancy’s Irish Soda Tea Bread

What you need:

3 cups flour
1 tsp baking soda
3/4 tsp salt
1 cup or more currants or raisins
1 3/4 cups buttermilk
(Instead of buttermilk, you can add 1 3/4 tablespoons of lemon juice to milk and let stand 5 minutes)

How to Make:

1. Sift flour, soda, and salt together.
2. Add the currants or raisins.
3. Stir in buttermilk to make a soft dough.
4. Blend well, kneading gently.
5. Put into greased bread pan or shape into a round loaf on a baking sheet.
6. Bake in 350-degree oven for 45 minutes or until done.
7. Test with toothpick.

Enjoy!
