Debuting later this year, Walt Disney World Resort Guests will be excited to experience the Disney Skyliner gondolas. This transportation system will transport guests to their favorite destinations.

On track to open in the fall 2019, this new Disney World transportation system of gondolas gives guests a never-before-seen birds-eye view of Walt Disney World. Functionally, however, it also will connect the new Disney Vacation Club property called Disney Riviera Resort opening in 2019 – and the Disney’s Art of Animation, Pop Century and Caribbean Beach resorts – with Disney’s Hollywood Studios and the International Gateway at Epcot.

This should also improve the guest flow through other Disney Transportation systems – specifically, the buses. For those long-term Walt Disney World fans, you may feel nostalgic. Magic Kingdom had a gondola system running between Fantasyland and Tomorrowland. It operated between 1971 and 1999.
Disney Skyliner Opening Date
The official date that the Disney Skyliner Gondolas will start operating is yet to be announced. However, it should be on or around the opening of Star Wars Land, which is Fall 2019. The combined timing will handle the influx of guests during this new land debut, and the new Riviera and Star Wars Resorts, at Walt Disney World this year.
