I love dessert, but I know it is something I can’t have everyday; for my waistline and my nutrition. Yet, I often still crave something sweet, which is when I bring in the dessert alternative!
Mine is yogurt, with a twist.
I use 0% fat plain greek yogurt to start. I suggest greek yogurt (if you don’t have a dairy allergy) because it is higher in protein than regular yogurt, which makes you feelĀ less hungry and is great for muscles too. It is also thicker and creamier than the average yogurt, making it seem more like dessert. Bonus, you get some great calcium, which most women lack in their diet and protein. Two brands that I suggest are Yoplait’s new Greek Yogurt and Chobani.
Then this is the part where you can have some fun with toppings.
Take one tablespoon of chocolate syrup and drizzle over the yogurt. Mix it in to make chocolate greek yogurt. You can add one tablespoon of almonds for a peanut kick or one tablespoon of chocolate chips for double chocolate yumminess. Or just keep the plain yogurt and add one tablespoon of M&Ms, and mix in. Don’t forget about fresh fruit, but my favorite actually, is just adding one tablespoon of homemade jam or jelly. So delicious!
Have fun with it, but keep the additions to only two, and small portions. Don’t undo the value by loading it with sweets or sugar. Just add a bit to slightly sweeten, so it seems like a dessert. You can even put everything into a pretty glass dish, with a small elegant spoon, to increase the dessert ambiance.
All in all, just put your feet up, and savor every scoop, knowing you are making a healthier choice.

P.S. Yoplait has a coupon for greek yogurt if you want to try it out. They also sent me a prize pack, which I donated to a local charity. Chobani event sent me a coupon for free yogurt, which I also donated. This post was not influenced by either brand, though I gave them props via some links to their websites because their products are really yummy.
