Whether it is because you have seen it on a celebrity or because you have seen it on a friend, these two popular Cartier pieces are super hot right now. But if you have limited funds, which one do you get? It is the Cartier Love vs the Juste Un Clou (JUC) question.

cartier love vs juste un clou

The Cartier Love is a classic, hands down. It has been around for decades. It is about love, for love, and an expression of love. It does not have to be of the romantic sort, although that is how it is spun more often than not with the giver holding the key (or screw). However, many wearers wear them to represent the love for each of their children.

So the symbolism is a factor for many, as is the recognizability when wearing it. Most people know about the Love bracelet! On the down side, it can get scratched, as a bangle does, but every couple of years, you can buff them out. The biggest thing is that it does go on and stay on via a screw. So once you put it on, you leave it on. It is a 24/7 piece. Yes, you can take it off, but most only do it when they go on vacation or need to have it cleaned. Otherwise, it becomes a part of you, a part of your look. It’s something that some like. The celebrity Kourtney Kardashian comes to mind.

The JUC or the Just Un Clou, is different in history, meaning and wearability. It was ‘retired’ since the 80s, but was recently brought back to market to purport self expression. While the Love is modern in design, the JUC is edgier. However, the design shows less scratches, making it attractive to some, and it can be removed without tools. So you can remove every night, for example. Another factor that might be favorable.

Some don’t like the pointed nail, but beliefs aside, it is not sharp so safety is not much of a concern. And most wearers don’t have an issue in airports. Otherwise, the only other concern that some people raise is if it is too trendy, too unique, to have longevity like the Love. Personally, it is a valid question, but it is a known design from Cartier. Even if it falls out of favor, it will be a luxury Cartier piece that can be passed down, brought out again or at least a conversation piece in the years to come. While it may not be as recognizable as the Love, that is a good thing for some wearers who want to be under the radar. However, with celebs like Kylie Kardashian, Miley Cyrus, Jessica Alba being seen with one on, that low-key factor might be short lived!

However, both are sturdy pieces and can be banged around a bit so if you are a busy Mom with kids, you don’t have to worry as much as other pieces.

In the end, it comes down to your personal style and if you want to wear something all day and night. I do wear Love AND my JUC 24/7 as they are all comfortable, but it is fun to move the JUC around to pair with my watch or take off all together in favor on another bracelet.

If you had to make a decision, which direction did you go in?

Do you wear the same size in the love bracelet as the JUC? I don’t live near a cartier store and will mail order. Cartier recommends (via email) sizing down one size for the JUC. Do you agree?

Most go one size smaller if you want a similar size look. So if your Love is 18, you probably want a 17 JUC. Hope that helps.
