I still cannot believe I have a toddler and he is growing fast and furiously. Not just physically up and out, but developmentally as well. I totally get a kick out of the new things he does, but I wonder what I can do to help him get the most out of his development. I am not trained as a teacher, but I know I need to teach him new things everyday.
Bright Horizons has a fantastic webinar today at 4pm (ET) where they will be sharing tips on how to make routine tasks into learning opportunities for your child. Plus, helping you understand just what your child is learning while they play, and making the most of your time together.
Bright Horizons also has these AMAZING family activity cards that offer learning activities for parents and children to do together. Each card has a main focus like writing, reading, responsibility, and math with a corresponding activity that takes place around the house. The cards are also broken down by easy, moderate or challenging so it can be adjusted for each child.
Here is a picture of one of the cards. It is to promote writing, and the activity suggests buying, or making, a card and having your child write a thank you message for the local police, fire department or nursing home:
Another card I like is teaching about math in the bathtub! All in all, these cards give parents a bit of inspiration to find teachable moments throughout the day. Once you get going, you will be amazed at how these cards inspire you and you’ll find ideas of your own. Thanks to Bright Horizons, I have four sets to giveaway. Just leave a quick comment and win a set of your own. And if you are around later today at 4pm (ET), the webinar will have other ideas too!
The giveaway has ended. Congrats to Linda, Tiffany and Joan.
