Affiliate imageSometimes we need a shopping list when we hit the stores. And with all of the fall trends, a targeted list is even more essential! So here is one guide to consider with the 9 top items to have in your closet this fall.

top items to have in your closet

1. VaVoom Day Dress
Being glam has gone to daylight. The dress that you thought was only for nights out are day-perfect paired with a larger tote instead of a clutch, and booties instead of high heels. Stay away from a lot of bling, but find some element that would make it a knock out, like a lace overlay or figure hugging version. Or one that combines both elements like this one from Adrianna Papell. Just pair with booties to make it more casual.

2. Pointy Toe Pumps
I am not a big fan on this trend, but alas, I would be remiss if I did not mention it. Just be careful not to poke someone’s eye out and it is really a better trend for someone who has slim legs. One brand that is known for its pointy perfection is Manolo Blahnik. But a cost alternative is this version from Charles David.

3. Mini Bags
Another hard one for me to follow (I have so much stuff!). But I have an 8 year old Louis Vuitton Speedy 25 that will fit the bill. But if you want to pick up a new find, any color will do but a fun fall color in handbags is a rich purple, like this min bag from Marc Jacobs.

4. Statement Necklace
Big, bold and glam should be what you reach for in jewelry this fall. The bolder the better. And the hues to score are burgundy and gray. This statement necklace by Natasha Couture at Nordstrom is on-trend fabulous!

5. Sport Glam
Wear a cute dress, but then pair it with a track jacket. Or wear a blazer with a pair of silky track inspired pants. Just stay away from the converse high tops with a dress. A bit of an 80s teenage flash back. Find a track top that has clean lines and use it instead of a blazer for a casual vibe. I like the color and the simplify of this version from North Face.

Or find a cute pair of glam track pants and pair with a smart blazer and pumps, like this version. (So chic!)

6. Leather
A leather jacket is a great staple and a vegan options are available too. Or look for embellishments, like this faux leather embellished T-shirt for a simple option.

If you want to invest in a leather jacket, find one with out a lot of extras. Keep it simple and consider investing in one that is a unique color like a cognac or a burgundy leather jacket. However, I’m a huge fan of this jacket from Guess. And the price is fabulous.

7. Boot Bonanza
This trend is not waning anytime soon. The three boots you should have in your closet are wedge boots, over the calf boots and buckle boots. This boot hits all three trends in one.

8. Mixed Media
Think about mixing a soft floral top with leather pants, or find a jacket with a asymmetrical zipper for a hard edge in a floral print. This is a good option from Eileen Fisher!

9. Lovely Lace
Carrying over from last year, this is still going strong, but instead of a lace dress, find casual ways to sport lace. This sweater from Rachel Roy is a perfect example!

What piece would you want to snatch up?
