Jockey’s Spring 2012 Collection

Intimate apparel company Jockey (sounds so much better than panty maker right?) is adding more underwear styles, color and fabrics this spring, which will make them a huge undergarment contender.

Let the panty wars begin!

Seriously though, I got the privilege of participating in an online fashion show with style expert Jenn Falik and Jockey Designer Miryha Fantegrossi getting a sneak peek at Jockey’s Spring 2012 line (available now).

I thought I would write a post on it because we often focus on what to wear on the outside, but how we feel and look can start underneath the pants, shirts, boots and coats. So here are the lingerie items that I thought were the coolest, prettiest and functional-est from the fashion show.

Some things that caught my attention was a “stay cool” product that regulates your body temperature. Tanks, tees, and camis that warm you up three degrees when it is cold outside and cool you down three degrees when it is hot outside. What sealed the deal for me was the fact that the tops were also reversible to make it either v-neck or crew neck to give you different silhouettes. Totally layer-able too.

Jockey has new lacey gear too, which they have not been known for. They are known, however, for comfort so they really wanted to make sure they did it right. Looks like they did. Soft lace, full coverage in the seat so you don’t get the panty wedgies, with girlie detailing that adds a great feminine expression.

Jockey Lace Panties

Another funky Jockey product I liked was the new “Skinny Slip Short”. It looks like shape wear but it is really just underwear to give you a slip-like, smooth texture under clothes. Great to wear under a pencil skirt – another a big style trend this spring – and you definitely don’t want to see those panty-lines under that.

Lastly, I loved what Jockey calls the Vintage Brief. Think Grannie panties without the Grannie part. More like 1950s Mad Men kind-of glam. So if you are a full coverage panty girl, they have a up-to-date option without looking like grandma with its technical contour and super cute fabrics.

Jockey Vintage Briefs

Jockey’s existing collection has also gone through a upheaval too with new colors (pastels are big for spring – even in underwear), patterns, camisoles that have larger straps to hide bra straps, and a longer length for layering.

So a great New Year’s resolution is to clean out your underwear drawer and buy some pretty, femimine panties and camisoles to spruce up your look. (Even if it is only you that knows -wink, wink.)

(Note: They have a sale going on right now in their online store, plus a discount for another 10% off.)

Gift Ideas for Hard to Buy for People

Presents for IvySo are you getting stressed out yet about your holiday shopping? Especially shopping for the people on your list that you just don’t know what to get for them?

The best thing to think about for those hard-to-buy for people on your list is not to think about what object to get, but what service to get. In other words, think less about buying a wool sweater and more about getting a dry cleaning certificate. Don’t give just a restaurant gift certificate, but combine it with an offer to pay for a babysitter or be the babysitter yourself. Give a book of car washes or a car detail gift certificate. Offer to mow the lawn or shovel the walkway for the season. Or give a gift certificate to Peapod or other delivery service to give someone a grocery shopping break. My personal favorite gift is a spa gift certificate – what a better gift than one of pampering because, let’s face it, when do most of us take the time for some pampering.

Congratulations to Julie for winning the 3rd day of the Charlene Chronicles’ 12 Days of Holiday Giveaways: a $25 Spa Wish gift certificate good at hundreds of spas across the country.

Online Shopping

I love online shopping. Who wants to schelp the kids to the store only to run around in circles finding someone to help you and wondering if you are getting the best price to boot?

As a Mom to a boy, I also dread the minuscule selection of boys clothing and shoes in brick and mortar stores. Really? You don’t think I need shoes for him or a decent shirt that does not look like he broke out of state prison yesterday? I still don’t understand the lack of allocated floor space, but it is a reality and one that even further drives me to the web.

So whether it is selection, price, or ease of shopping, online for us is the way to go. Here is a quick video about the subject, as well as a walkthrough of my new favorite clothing website (for girls AND boys) called Hartstrings.com. Check it out.

Follow them on Facebook or Twitter for the latest sales and discounts.

A 2nd Birthday Wish

I cannot believe that two years ago, at this very moment, you made your appearance on this earth.

Lia, Born

A lot has happened this past year. You started walking then running, jumping then climbing, twirling then dancing, babbling then talking. You went on your elevator ride…

IMG_4534

and your first plane ride too.

IMG_4410

Had your first ice cream cone….

IMG_3947

And had your first art class.

IMG_2713

You found your favorite TV show: The Wiggles. (Though Elmo is a close second.)

IMG_3628

And can’t be without your stuffed monkey that Nanna gave you or the little car that Great Nana sent to you.
L - Monkey
You love the telephone…..

IMG_3981

And the computer. (Especially to watch the Wiggles videos)

IMG_4297

You love swimming….

IMG_4549

And playing the piano.

You started to play with other children and have begun to explore the world on your own.

IMG_4686

Yet, you still reach for our hands to guide you and melt our hearts when you do.

IMG_3440

You are not a baby anymore, but growing to be a little boy. One who knows what he wants and wants to do it himself too. There are times you really show your frustration in everyway possible, but when you put your arms around our neck or nuzzle your face in the crook of our shoulders, the world seems right for both of us.

IMG_2737

I have a feeling this year will be challenging for you as you learn new things, but we will explore them together: the bee on the flower or the airplane in the sky, the sound of trucks or the smell of the sea.

IMG_4639

Everyday you grow, explore, and develop, know this one important thing: We love you with all our hearts, and we can’t wait to see what adventures we will have this year.

Happy 2nd Birthday Bubbie Bear.

Fun to Eat Fruit

Whether is is just getting your kids to eat apples or you need that perfect gift for a teacher, check out Fun to Eat Fruit from a family owned company in New Hampshire.

Fun to Eat Fruit

Fun to Eat Fruit™ are apples, pears, nectarines and plums that are eco-friendly (prewashed with no stickers) and grown and produced in the United States that are totally tubular, as they are shipped in tall plastic tubs that keeps the fruit fresh and unbruised. Yet, what makes Fun to Eat Fruit™ ‘fun’, are the safe-to-eat ink images on the fruit; think hearts, stars, smiley faces, and more. They have featured images each month, though you can always inquire about your favorites. (I love the cancer awareness ribbon).

Most kids will turn their noses up at an apple, but it is hard to do when it has a smiley face on it. Makes it cool for school too, but it can be a fun way to advertise or show school spirit. Even a clever way to say Happy Birthday or Thank You. You can have custom images (think business logos too) on a variety of fruit using the safe-to-eat ink approved by the FDA and certified kosher.

You need to purchase fruit in multiples of 4’s (one tube, Tube 1x, contains 4 pieces of fruit and the minimum order is two tubes), so it is enough fruit for the whole week for one child. The two tubes cost $12, which more than what you can find at the grocery store. Yet, if you are looking for a fun party favor, fabulous gift or are desperate for a fruit eating child, then take a look at what they have to offer.

Mom Fashion for Fall

I went on a little shopping spree where I got some great finds from the Nordstrom Rack.  The 5 pieces I got (two jackets, two pairs of shoes and a necklace) showcase two great outfits that can add more polish and pizzazz to our typical Mom wardrobe of sweats and jeans.

So check out the Nordstrom Rack for similar finds, or try Target, Old Navy, Marshalls and TJMaxx too.

The two other mentioned pieces were the T-shirt at JCrew.com and the pants from Lululemon.com.

TheFind.com

A cool new “Find”

With the launch of the iPad2, iPhone4, and other smartphones entering the market every day (love this BestBuy commercial by the way), there are plenty of options out there. And with them comes plenty of apps too. Frankly, I was slow into the smartphone market, but when I started with my iPhone3, I quickly learned that I could not live without it. It keeps me organized and I am never bored anywhere I go. Long line at the post office=fun game of Angry Birds. Long wait at the doctor’s office=Tweeting with friends.

I have a huge list of apps I love. Foursquare is a huge favorite of mine, as well as the coolness of the Magic Beans app. But I also love function apps like QR readers and apps that help find awesome shopping deals, like my newest discovery called TheFind.com.

It is a free app for the iPhone and Android, and it scans product barcodes to find the best price on, well, everything. See a cute pair of heels, but wonder if you can find them cheaper somewhere else? Wondering if there is a better deal on that flat screen TV? Done! TheFind.com app searches the Web for you. Then you can purchase the item on the spot directly through your phone. Or you can even view driving directions to the a nearby store with the lowest price tag. Especially since most stores will price match.

There is even a video on YouTube showing how it works and you can always go to the website directly to learn more.

What other apps do you like for yourself? (We’ll talk about kids app in the next post…)
