If you are looking for stilletto recommendations, you are in the wrong place. I need to be able to run after my kids without falling on my face. Want to know your smartphone's metapix? Sorry. I only write about whether it can survive 5 minutes in the hands of my kids.
It’s finally here! I’m heading to the Disney Social Media Moms Conference 2013 this week! Actually, I’m already en route. Err….sort of. I’m making a detour to Las Vegas first. I was asked to speak on a panel at the ABC Springs Conference; a conference for baby, infant, juvenile retailers. So I had to do some extra planning to pull everything off. Including packing for the kids days in advance and leaving tons of notes for the last minute items that need to be packed. Then I will connect with the family at the airport in Orlando after my redeye flight. Oy.
But I’m excited to be sharing the fun in that there is a lot of information Disney will be emparting to us, which may help you plan your next trip, consider a trip, or consider other fun things like new apps, movies and more that you don’t have to get a plane for!
One thing I’ll be doing at the Disney Social Media Moms Celebration is running in my first runDisney experience. It will be a two mile race and I made a video in my magical quest. Not only will this be my first runDisney ‘race’, it will be the first one since the birth of my daughter and my abdominal surgery. I’m going to be slow. Like, ridiculously slow, which is a humbling experience after running 7 marathons in my life. But my life has changed, and so has my body. It will take awhile for me to adjust to this new fitness paradigm. Yet, I’m going to give it a go.
Is one of your New Year’s Resolutions going to the gym more or exercising more? Easy said than done, right? One of my motivators is some good music for working out. Nothing gets me excited for a run than knowing I have some fabulous tunes to rock to. While Eye of the Tiger and Gangham Style may be dated and overdone, there are some lesser known melodies with kick-ass potential. Here are ten to add to your playlist!
As a runner and a certified aerobics instructor, I’m crushing over pv.body.
I am always looking for functional and fashionable workout wear. As a Mom, I am also looking for workout wear to wear all the time. So while I am gearing up to run a Disney Half Marathon next month (my first post baby race – for real y’all), I am also gearing up to run after my two kids tomorrow morning.
No matter how fabulous the clothes are, I also don’t have time to head to the mall to try and buy clothes. (Which totally should make sense if you read paragraph one.) Yet, if the comfy workout gear needs to also function as my wardrobe, I want to look appropo at the bus stop. I mean, I want to be comfy, but I don’t want to look like I schlepped out of bed or look like I’m going to gym class circa 1988. (You know who you are.)
So when I heard about pv.body, I (appropriately) ran to the computer.
pv.body puts together an outfit for $50 based on your style profile. Are you a yoga lover, a marathon maven, a cardio fiend, or a Mom with workout style. Just fill in a questionnaire, and boom, for $50 and free shipping, you get some fabu gear for women
Your own fitness stylist (how hollywood-esc is that) picks from a ton of brands and styles! So you could rock an outfit every month and start building a mom-fit-tastic wardrobe of cardio-bus-stop-awesomeness.
Then each month, you get another set of workout wonder-unders for $50 (with a guaranteed value of over $150.) Don’t like the top you go that month? No problemo. Just send it back and something else will wing your way. Pull a hamstring and need to skip out on the subscription service? No worries. Cancel anytime.
I gave it a go. I filled in some questions: (love being comfy at home with long sleeve, bold, non-patterned tops, in my sizes, etc. etc.) I waited and then got my box. I’m going to admit I was rather bummed. I got an orange top (not flattering to my skin tone) and black leggings. I was not about to wear them together as I would look like an advertisement for Halloween. So I called up the company and spoke to some awesome customer service peeps, and they are swapping out my gear. But the quality and coolness? I swooned.
I seriously love this. Someone doing the shopping for gear curated from various companies. Designed for women and for my fitness (or non-fitness as the case may be) style. Then sent to me each month for $50 with no thought on my part. Which is great since my brain melted ages ago, although I wish I could say the same for my hips.
While I love New Year Resolutions to get fit, I think an even better resolution is to be fashionably fit. So if you want to rock your resolution, sign up for pv.body using this link and you’ll get a $15 Lululemon gift card, plus 25% off your first month subscription.
Woot, right?
Way to rock 2013.

I love apps and I love health so when they are combined, it seriously rocks! Like the Life…supplemented | WannaBeWell app. (Free on iTunes!)
The gist is that the WannaBeWell app is great tool to remind you to take medications and supplements, like multivitamins. (I seriously wish I knew about this when I was pregnant – all those multivitamins, DHA tablets, and iron pills!)
You can even track for separate family members. The WannaBeWell app also has a personal ‘coach’ to remind you of healthly habits. (There are three guys to choose from, though I wish there was a female version like Jillian Michaels or something.)
There is a blog with posts from a panel of expert health and fitness bloggers. There is also a supplement resource center to get details on supplements, when they are good for certain conditions, etc. I also loved the mini-quiz to determine my wellness status.
The WannaBeWell app is a great tool to add to your healthy app list! Here is a one minute video to show you how it works!
…………………………………………………………. I wrote this blog post while participating in a blog tour by Mom Central Consulting on behalf of Life…supplemented. As a thank you for participating, I received a $25 promotional item and a $25 donation was made on my behalf to Vitamin Angels; which connects infants and children under five years of age with vital nutrients.
