Be Cupid for Valentine’s Day

I cannot believe Valentine’s Day is one week away. While the hubby and I don’t do too much for each other, my brothers and I do something special for my Mom and Grandmother. My Grandfather passed away 12 years ago and my Father is in Afghanistan – so there is even more reason for us kids to step up to the plate and share a little love to the matriarchs of the family.

But we are usually scrambling and searching websites for decent flowers or the drugstore aisles for decent candy. Then scouring the internet for discount codes. This year, I’m on it, and I am sharing the love. Here are two awesome discounts for fabulous florals from Pro-Flowers and yummy chocolate dipped berries from Shari’s Berries. Two great companies that you can trust to deliver the prettiest and freshest flowers and berries. Trust them – they’ll make you look good. With the huge options you can find on their respective websites, you definitely will see something fabulous too.

So go. Now. Order flowers for your Mom, or order chocolate dipped strawberries for your significant other. Plus, since I heart you guys so much, I’m helping you to rock the V-day love fest even more: I’m giving away a $50 code for Pro-Flowers or Shari’s Berries. Yes, fifty smack-a-roos.

Rep Lips

Now you totally can be the cupid of Valentine’s Day.

Radio City Rockettes Christmas Spectacular Review and Giveaway

Radio City Christmas SpectacularEver since I was little, I have always wanted to see the Radio City Christmas Spectacular, featuring The Rockettes show. Last week, I got my chance.

When I received three complimentary blogger tickets, I knew immediately who I would take. Why we often think of our children, sometimes that is not possible because either it is a school night or your kids are too little (like mine) to sit through a show. In that case, make it a girls night! Gather some friends and see the show, or make it a grown-up family event, like I did.

I was excited to have a night out with my Mom and my Grandmother. Three generations of women hanging out at the Wang Center in Boston! With my Grandmother in her 80s, my Mom with a busy schedule while my Dad is in Afghanistan, and I with a toddler and a career, there are not many times in recent years that just the three of us have done something together. As we headed into Boston, it brought back memories of the three of us in the past heading to Boston during the holidays to shop at the original Filene’s Basement or see a show, and it was fantastic to have that experience again with them.

The show itself? I was blown away. I don’t want to giveaway the details of the show so you can be just as surprised, but suffice to say that the precision dancing, the costumes, the music, the energy, the lighting, the special effects, and the technology made it one of the best shows I have ever seen. My Mom was laughing, my grandmother was clapping and I was emotional over the beauty of the performance.

Seriously, if you have time before the show comes to an end, you really need to find the time to go. Take your Mom and Grandmother. Take your Mom and Aunt, or your Mom and Dad. Go with your best friend. Or, of course, bring your kids. Maybe just go with your partner and make it a date night. Either way, find someone and line kick your way to this spectacular show. Since I would really, really, love you to see it, here is a special 25% discount!

1. Log onto: www.citicenter.org/radiocity

2. Select a non-peak performance show time, which is either:

  • 12/13 at 7:30pm
  • 12/14, 12/15, 12/20, 12/21 at 2pm or 7:30pm
  • 12/22 at 5pm or 8pm,
  • 12/23 at 2pm
  • 12/26, 12/27 or 12/28 at 5pm.
  • *Note: there are a lot more performance times but they are considered peak show times so the discount does not apply

3. Enter Promo Code: ROXMOM11 (Works on all seats except the $130 seats)

4. Then go have some fun!

Or to really jingle your bells for the next Charlene Chronicles’ 12 Days of Holiday Giveaways, Sharon R. won the 4 tickets to see the show on December 28th at 5pm AND attend a meet and greet before the show with the World Famous Radio City Rockettes! How cool is that!

There is nothing like a show in Boston during the holidays to get the kids excited for the season (and on their best behavior during school vacation week!)

There are a lot of fantastic shows like the Boston Ballet’s Nutcracker, Peter Pan, and the Radio City Rockets Christmas Spectacular, but a super fun event that everyone takes notice of is when the world renowned Disney comes to town.

Life is Good Festival 2011

Great weekend of music and fun for everyone.

The Life is good Festival takes place on September 24th and 25th at the Prowse Farm in Canton, MA with over 20 music bands and unlimited fun for adults and kids. There is art, activities, and games, and it raises money to help children overcome life-threatening challenges.

The aim of the Life is good Festival is to also make it the most family-friendly music festival in the world. There is a dedicated area for families with a shady area, a diaper changing station to take care of any little accidents that might present themselves, a nursing station for moms in a peaceful area, healthy food and snacks all day long, and kid-friendly activities including “My First Yoga” and “Big Joe The Storyteller”. There are also great kid musical groups making an appearance at the Festival like the Laurie Berkner Band, Ben Rudnick and Friends, and more.

Full parenting details can be found here and answers to questions like parking and transportation can be found here.

Kids under 2 are free. Adults are $65 and kids 2-12 are $20 for one day admission. But I did a Google search and found a great code for 50% off tickets, so click here! and have fun!

Melissa and Doug Trunki

Summer means travel and if you are a parent, it means traveling with kids and all their gear too! But check out this super cute suitcase, called the Trunki, by Melissa and Doug to make it fun.

The Trunki serves as luggage and a riding toy for kids on the go! At home, it can be a kid-friendly storage bin too! Features include a tow strap, carry handles, secure catches, integrated wheels and stabilizers to prevent toppling over. I recently saw it in action at the Logan airport and it looked totally cool.

It retails for about $40, but check out the sale tonight starting at 9pm on Gilt Children. Not sure what the price will be (it is hidden until 9pm ET) but it probably will be an awesome deal. Use this unique code for an extra $10 any purchase over $50, and it is good until July 18, 2011 on anything at Gilt. Consider following Gilt Children on Facebook to get the heads up on future cool kid deals and discounts too!

Super cute!
