Gluten Free, Nut Free and Dairy Free Halloween Candy

While you may have liked seeing my list of non-candy alternatives for Halloween, sometimes you need candy or want to pass it out. Traditions, right?

However, if you would like to have options for children with allergies, there are some gluten free Halloween candy options, dairy free Halloween candy options, and nut free Halloween candy options to consider passing out on All Hallows Eve.

Needless to say, for gluten free candy, avoid candy with wheat and malt as ingredients. Some examples include candy corn, which often has wheat, and candy that has the crunch factor, like Malt Balls, Twix and Nestle Crunch.

A great list to consider is the Celiac.com’s Gluten-free and Gluten-safe Candy List for Halloween 2015. It is a comprehensive list of gluten free Halloween candy options.

Fruit candy like Starburst candies or Skittles are gluten free safe (as well as nut and diary safe too). Chocolate options for gluten free snacking include Tootsie Rolls, Hershey’s Milk Chocolate, and 3 Musketeers.

For candy that is free of all three allergens – dairy, nuts and gluten – are Good & Fruity, Dum Dum Lollipops, Lifesavers and Jelly Belly Jelly Beans and Jolly Rancher Hard Candy.

Nut-free candy can be tricky. Needless to say, stay away from anything that clearly has nuts in it – like Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups, Peanut and Peanut Butter M&Ms, and Payday Bars. For dairy-free, stay away from anything that is chocolate.

However, sometimes if candy is processed in facility or equipment with an allergen, that can be problematic too. So if you want to check out a particular candy, this list from SureFoodsLiving is a good resource too.

So this year, make sure your treats don’t have any tricks in them!
